Ireland's Department of Finance reported that Tánaiste and Minister for Finance Simon Harris represented the EU Council at the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting in Asheville, North Carolina. Discussions covered global economic growth and energy security, financial sector issues, government debt, global imbalances, financial literacy, financial fraud and artificial intelligence. Harris also met finance ministers from the UK, Canada and Singapore. In discussing financial literacy and increasingly sophisticated financial crime, he referred to Ireland’s recently published anti-money laundering strategy, National Risk Assessment and 30-point financial fraud action plan. He also reiterated plans under the retail investment roadmap to introduce a simple, accessible and tax-efficient Investment Account in 2027.
