The Zimbabwe Insurance and Pensions Commission hosted the 2025 meetings of the Organisation of African Insurance Supervisory Authorities, convening commissioners and senior representatives from insurance regulators across Africa for the Executive Committee meeting, a Capacity Building Seminar and the Annual General Assembly. The programme focused on sharing supervisory experience and discussing regulatory priorities linked to insurance market development and cross-border oversight. The General Assembly elected Mr Issouf Traoré of Côte d’Ivoire’s Insurance Directorate as OAISA President and Dr Abiba Zakariah, Commissioner at Ghana’s National Insurance Commission, as Vice President, and appointed IPEC Commissioner Dr Grace Muradzikwa as Southern Africa Regional Representative on the OAISA Executive Committee. The capacity-building agenda covered agricultural index-based insurance, risk-based supervision and implications of the African Continental Free Trade Area for regional insurance integration, supported by presentations from IPEC, industry and AfCFTA Secretariat representatives, alongside a panel discussion on risk-based supervision.
