The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA) has officially inaugurated its new headquarters building in Njedengwa, Dodoma, known as TIRA Bima House, presenting the move as a step towards improving working conditions and strengthening oversight of Tanzania’s insurance sector. The launch was attended by government leaders, insurance-sector stakeholders and representatives of financial institutions. The guest of honour, Zanzibar’s Minister of State in the President’s Office for Policy and Planning Saada Mkuya Salum, linked the development to the government’s relocation of institutions to Dodoma and called on TIRA to continue professionally enforcing the Insurance Act, ensure providers comply with applicable rules and standards, and expand public education on the benefits of insurance, while encouraging product innovation for areas including agriculture, health and natural disasters. Insurance Commissioner Dr Baghayo Saqware said the new headquarters would support improved service delivery, transparency and accountability and serve as a hub for innovation and sector supervision.
