The Swiss National Bank has nominated six finalists in its design competition for a new banknote series, with concepts B, G, H, J, K and L advancing to the final phase based on a public survey and an evaluation by an advisory board of external experts. More than 100,000 people participated in the survey held between 13 August and 7 September 2025. The final phase will assess potential cooperation with the designers and commercial aspects, and the Swiss National Bank noted that the eventual banknote designs may differ significantly from the submitted concepts; the Bank Council will decide on the final designs under the Swiss National Bank’s Organisation Regulations. The winner is due to be announced in the first quarter of 2026, after which further development of the designs will begin. The Swiss National Bank expects the new banknotes to be issued at the beginning of the 2030s at the earliest.
