Chile’s Financial Market Commission (CMF) has published the 2026 list of banking claims subject to lapsing, covering amounts held in supervised banks and cooperatives that have shown no movement or have not been collected for two years. The CMF reports 94,654 claims across 19 supervised institutions totaling CLP 106,845 million. The total is 13 percent higher than the prior year. Banks account for 91,940 claims totaling CLP 106,312 million, while cooperatives account for 2,714 claims totaling CLP 533 million; the largest amounts are reported for Banco de Chile (CLP 42,464 million) and Banco Santander (CLP 20,512 million). Under the General Banking Act, institutions must notify the CMF of these claims and publish the listings in the Official Gazette. If beneficiaries do not collect the amounts within three years after the listings are published, the claims will lapse and the financial institutions must pay the unclaimed amounts to the National Board of Firefighters of Chile.
