The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision (IVASS) ordered the cessation of insurance intermediation carried out through three websites found to be offering insurance services without authorisation, and initiated measures for their blocking by providers operating in Italy. The sites identified are www.mauropretosrl.com (and mauropretosrl.com), www.pozziepartners.com (and pozziepartners.com), and www.e-n-insurance.it (and e-n-insurance.it). Blocking activities are under way and may take a few days for technical reasons. The cessation orders are published in IVASS’ “Defend ourselves from scams” section, bringing the total number of websites subject to such orders to 238 since IVASS began exercising its blocking powers in November 2023. IVASS also reiterated consumer guidance to exercise caution with insurance offers via the internet, phone or instant messaging, particularly for temporary motor third-party liability policies, and to verify that quotes and contracts relate to duly authorised insurers and intermediaries by consulting IVASS registers and lists, including the Single Register of Insurance Intermediaries (RUI).
