The Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Costa Rica appointed Pablo Villalobos González as the Bank’s general manager, effective 17 March 2025, for a six-year term. Villalobos holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of Costa Rica and has completed specialized central banking training with institutions including the International Monetary Fund, the Center for Latin American Monetary Studies, the Bank of Spain and the Swiss National Bank. He has worked at the Central Bank for 35 years, including serving as interim general manager from June 2020 to January 2021, and most recently led the Department of Risk and Compliance. The appointment followed an internal selection process within the Central Bank and its maximum deconcentration bodies.
