The Superintendency of Banks of Panama published an update on a series of training sessions focused on the prevention, detection and investigation of financial crimes, delivered under a memorandum of understanding signed by members of a task force in which it participates. The programme is intended to strengthen national and international cooperation against threats including money laundering and terrorist financing. One session targeted staff from the Superintendency’s Directorate for the Prevention of Money Laundering and was delivered by representatives of the Public Ministry, the Judicial Investigation Directorate and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. A second session, led by the Superintendency’s Special Inspections management, brought together prosecutors, financial experts, forensic auditors and financial intelligence unit personnel to improve the drafting of official information requests so banks can better understand them, with the aim of improving analysis quality and response times.
