The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP) hosted Brazil’s Finance Minister Fernando Haddad at its Rio de Janeiro headquarters for a meeting with senior officials to discuss strategic issues for the development of the Brazilian insurance sector and SUSEP’s role in regulation and supervision. Haddad highlighted SUSEP’s relevance and said the dialogue created an opening to strengthen the supervisor with the “shielding” needed for such an important body. Superintendent Alessandro Octaviani emphasised the technical calibre of SUSEP’s staff and its ability to carry out its institutional mission despite challenges.
