The Central Bank of Kuwait, in cooperation with Global Finance, convened a closed roundtable with Kuwaiti banks to assess how global and regional economic and geopolitical developments are affecting Kuwait. Opening the discussion, Governor Basel Ahmed Al-Haroon said the country is approaching current uncertainty with a strong external position, an established monetary policy framework and a well-capitalized, liquid banking sector. Participants discussed the domestic economic outlook, progress on economic diversification and banks’ role in supporting private-sector growth and productive activity. The roundtable also examined capital market and housing finance development, advances in technology and artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, sustainability and sustainable finance.
