The Supervisory Board of Estonia's Financial Supervision Authority Finantsinspektsioon has launched a public competition to appoint the next Chair of the Management Board. The current Chair, Kilvar Kessler, will leave when his term ends on 15 January 2026 and has confirmed he will not apply. Supervisory Board Chair Jürgen Ligi described the recruitment process as reflecting a broader move toward competitive selection for senior roles rather than any dissatisfaction with Kessler’s performance, while highlighting his contribution to market stability and risk-based anti-money laundering supervision. Applications for the role are open until 4 August, and Kessler will remain in post until the end of his term.
