The Central Bank of Russia reported that insurance premiums increased 14.4% year on year to RUB 2 trillion in the first half of 2026, driven by endowment life insurance. Individuals primarily purchased policies with terms of up to one year, guaranteed returns and lump-sum premiums. For half of these policies, the average premium exceeded RUB 10 million. Total insurance payments rose 16% to RUB 1.3 trillion, while the insurance market’s net profit fell by nearly one-third.
