The Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan brought together central banks, financial regulators, ConsumerCentriX, IPC and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for a meeting on women’s entrepreneurship under the We-Finance Code initiative. The discussions focused on practical experience in supporting women entrepreneurs, improving the collection and use of gender-disaggregated data for decision-making, and developing financial products tailored to women-led businesses. Participants highlighted Uzbekistan’s experience in building a national ecosystem and coordinating the National Coalition to expand financial and non-financial support for women entrepreneurs. Following the meeting, the EBRD will design the next technical assistance programme and support further regional cooperation under the We-Finance Code initiative. The initiative currently includes 45 countries, including five in Central Asia. Uzbekistan joined in 2024, with the central bank acting as national coordinator.
