The General Pension and Social Security Authority reported that 133,514 Emirati women are registered as insured individuals under its pension coverage, based on its latest 2026 statistics. A further 13,238 Emirati women receive retirement pensions, 16,717 women are eligible beneficiaries and 17 Emirati women are insured under the Self-Employment Coverage Scheme. The authority also reviewed pension protections for women and their families. A widow may combine her employment salary or personal retirement pension with her share of her deceased husband’s pension. Under the 2023 pension and social security law, widows receive 40% of a deceased insured person’s or pensioner’s pension, children receive 40%, and parents receive 20%. The law also allows qualifying married, divorced or widowed women to retire at age 55 after a 30-year subscription period and provides reductions in the retirement age and required subscription period based on the number of children.
