The National Bank of Serbia published payment services data showing continued growth in card issuance, usage and acceptance infrastructure. Consumers made 237.9 million card purchases at Serbian points of sale in the second quarter of 2026, up 19.3% from the same period in 2025 and 105% from the second quarter of 2022. At the end of the quarter, 13.7 million payment cards had been issued, an increase of 706,000, or 5.5%, year over year, while 7.1 million users were registered for card issuance services. Serbia’s acceptance network expanded to 195,000 point-of-sale terminals, up 10.1%, and 3,412 ATMs, up 6.8%, from a year earlier.

National Bank of Serbia reports 19.3% growth in card purchases in the second quarter of 2026
The National Bank of Serbia reported that card purchases rose 19.3% year over year to 237.9 million in the second quarter of 2026. Issued cards increased 5.5% to 13.7 million, while the number of point-of-sale terminals grew 10.1% to 195,000.
