The Norwegian Financial Supervisory Authority has adopted a new mandate for the Preparedness Committee for Financial Infrastructure, or BFI, clarifying the committee’s role in managing severe information and communications technology incidents and crises. The update is intended to strengthen coordination among key financial sector participants and improve the sector’s preparedness for cyber incidents and other serious disruptions. BFI is described as a key forum for information sharing, contingency planning and crisis management across the sector. Under the new mandate, the committee is to coordinate measures during crises and severe ICT incidents, issue alerts and share information with relevant actors, develop and maintain plans and procedures, conduct annual contingency exercises, and facilitate the exchange of information and experience. Its work continues to cover both prevention and the handling of serious events that could cause major disruption to financial infrastructure.
