Mexico’s Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, through the Financial Intelligence Unit, has moved the certification process on preventing transactions involving illicit proceeds for persons conducting Vulnerable Activities to 2027. No certification process will take place in 2026, allowing applicants to prepare under the updated regulatory framework. The decision follows amendments to the general rules under the Federal Law for the Prevention and Identification of Transactions Involving Illicit Proceeds. Most amendments will take effect on November 30, 2026, while official registration, notice and reporting forms were updated on September 24. The Financial Intelligence Unit will publish the call for certification, including its requirements, stages and timetable, through its official channels and the Official Gazette. Applicants will receive time to review the applicable provisions, syllabus and preparation materials before the assessment.
