The Central Bank of Iceland announced that it will convene the Reykjavík Economic Conference on 8 to 9 May 2025, in co-operation with the Center for International Macroeconomics at Northwestern University, with selected events open to the public via livestream. The conference is positioned as a forum for academics and policymakers to discuss macroeconomic analysis, policy challenges, and the evolving role of central banks. The published agenda includes a 8 May keynote by Chiara Scotti, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Italy, on cross-border payments. The 9 May programme features a welcome by Central Bank of Iceland Governor Ásgeir Jónsson, keynote sessions with Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey and Federal Reserve Board Governors Michael S. Barr and Adriana Kugler, and a talk by Federal Reserve Bank of New York President John C. Williams on uncertainty and robust monetary policy, with Q&A sessions moderated by Brynja Þorgeirsdóttir and Francine Lacqua, followed by a closing keynote by Jónsson and a fireside chat with Gauti Eggertsson.
