The Central Bank of the Philippines (Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, BSP) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Royal Canadian Mint to cooperate on currency management and gold refining, establishing a five-year partnership. The agreement was signed on 22 January 2025 during an online ceremony by BSP Governor Eli M. Remolona Jr. and Royal Canadian Mint President and Chief Executive Officer Marie Lemay. The partnership focuses on sustainability practices, cost-effective currency production, gold processing operations, and commemorative coin production. Cooperation areas include technology exchange, staff training and exchange, and sharing best practices, expertise, and technical and capacity-building assistance. The BSP noted the MOU follows its October 2024 agreements on payments and currency management with Banque de France and with Bundesdruckerei GmbH.
