The Hong Kong Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) hosted a spring reunion for “MPFA Alumni”, bringing together current and former MPFA and eMPF Platform Company directors and committee members. In remarks at the event, MPFA and eMPF Platform Company Chairman Mrs Ayesha Macpherson Lau marked 2025 as a pivotal year for the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) System, ahead of its 25th anniversary of operation on 1 December 2025, and highlighted a set of reforms expected to take effect during the year. The reforms referenced include all MPF trustees onboarding to the eMPF Platform by the end of 2025, abolition of the MPF offsetting arrangement on 1 May 2025, and the development of implementation details alongside a public consultation for “full portability” of MPF benefits. MPFA Managing Director Mr Cheng Yan-chee also outlined progress since the MPF System’s inception, including work to reduce MPF fees, a rising share of voluntary contributions, growth in tax-deductible voluntary contributions, and the performance of the default investment strategy since its launch.
