The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA) participated in Law Week 2025 in Dar es Salaam to deliver public insurance education, clarify insurance legislation and gather feedback on insurance-related challenges from citizens. The event, held at Mnazi Mmoja grounds, runs from 25 January to 31 January 2025 and is designed to bring together institutions offering legal education and related services. TIRA deployed officials to engage the public, and its Legal and Complaints Manager, Okoka Mgavilenzi, briefed the Temeke District Commissioner, Sixtus Mapunda, and other stakeholders on the Authority’s establishment, mandate and key laws governing Tanzania’s insurance market. The session referenced the Health Insurance for All Act, No. 13 of 2023, under which TIRA has been assigned a supervisory role, and Mapunda urged the Authority to maintain professionalism and accountability. Residents of Dar es Salaam and nearby areas were invited to attend the venue during the week to receive insurance education and have questions addressed.
