The National Bank of Serbia published updated statistics on usage of its IPS NBS instant payments system, showing continued growth in both the number and value of transactions in the first half of 2025. The system processed 50.7 million instant payments in H1 2025, up 24.8% from H1 2024, with total value up 37.1% to RSD 628.7bn. In Q2 2025 alone, volumes rose 25% year on year to 26.4 million and value increased 34.5% to RSD 334.1bn; the average transaction value was RSD 12,673 and the average daily volume was 289,673 transactions. A new daily record was set at 484,175 instant payments on 15 May, following earlier record days on 15 April and 5 May. The central bank also outlined key IPS services supporting adoption, including IPS QR code payments for invoices and at points of sale (IPS Scan and IPS Show), online payments using deep link technology, and the “Transfer” service that allows account-to-account payments using a registered mobile phone number.
