Dominican Republic's Pensions Superintendency (SIPEN) participated in the World Social Security Forum (WSSF 2025) in Kuala Lumpur, where its Director of Studies, Antonio Giraldi, presented how the International Labour Organization’s ILO-PENS actuarial services platform is being used to support pension-system analysis in the Dominican Republic. Giraldi took part in the Ibero-America technical exchange session and in the “ILO-ISSA: Actuarial Services Platform” panel, describing ILO-PENS as an actuarial projection tool that estimates future benefit payments and contributions and simulates different pension financing methods. SIPEN reported that the model has been a core input for its actuarial projections and estimates, including work on a potential longevity insurance, the viability and financial sustainability of the Social Solidarity Fund, and analysis of how labour turnover and informality affect the Dominican pension system, including in collaboration with the World Bank and the Inter-American Conference on Social Security.
