The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision has warned that counterfeit surety bond policies have been reported in the name of Industria Försäkringsaktiebolag and have been disowned by the insurer. IVASS said the Swedish firm, which is supervised by Finansinspektionen, surrendered its Italian authorization for class 15 surety business in November 1999, operates as a captive within its group, and does not offer policies to third parties in Italy. The insurer told IVASS that it has no public email address or internet domains. IVASS therefore identified the email addresses info@industria-forsakring.com, korporativ@industria-forsakring.com and kunder@industria-forsakring.com, the certified email address industriaforsakring@namirialpec.it, and the websites www.industria-forsakring.com and corporate.industria-forsakring.com as false and not attributable to the company. IVASS advised users to verify insurers, intermediaries, websites and surety bond verification arrangements against the official registers and warning lists on its website before paying premiums.
