The Central Bank of Montenegro met with OTP Bank and Crnogorska komercijalna banka (CKB) leadership to discuss steps toward integrating Montenegro into the European payments area. Governor Irena Radovic set out priorities including full implementation of European supervisory standards and further payment system modernisation through the ongoing TIPS Clone project, alongside the SEPA project. The parties noted that CKB is operating in a sound manner with strong market performance and that, as a systemically important financial institution, it contributes to the security and resilience of Montenegro’s banking system. OTP Bank’s Supervisory Board Chair Péter Csányi reiterated OTP Group’s plans to further develop operations in Montenegro and to support CKB in enhancing digital solutions and traditional banking services, while the meeting framed SEPA and TIPS implementation as supporting long-term stability and competitiveness and underscored continued regulator–bank cooperation as key to delivering reforms and maintaining financial stability.
