Nepal Insurance Regulatory Authority published updated claims and payout figures submitted by non-life insurers following recent windstorm and hailstorm damage, reporting 2,255 claims totalling approximately NPR 23.49 billion. Including advance payments, about NPR 4.02 billion has been paid to insured parties. The release shows property insurance claims of around NPR 18.03 billion across 619 claims, with approximately NPR 3.06 billion paid. It also reports 2,125 motor insurance claims totalling about NPR 3.46 billion with around NPR 0.66 billion paid, 202 agriculture, engineering and other risk claims totalling about NPR 0.52 billion with roughly NPR 0.07 billion paid, and 92 micro-insurance claims totalling about NPR 0.10 billion with around NPR 0.007 billion paid. Reinsurance companies have paid insurers approximately NPR 3.52 billion (including advances) for these losses, and Nepal Reinsurance Company has received 2,660 reinsurance claims amounting to approximately NPR 15.69 billion.
