Slovenia’s Ministry of Finance, as a member of the National Payments Council, announced that the Council will actively inform consumers about their right to a basic payment account through informational leaflets under the slogan “Nobody without a payment account”. The leaflets are intended to provide clear, concise information on the basic payment account and how to open one. A basic payment account is a payment account offered by banks and savings banks that provides access to commonly used payment services and is primarily aimed at consumers without a transaction account. The account maintenance fee is regulated and is additionally reduced for vulnerable consumer groups. Leaflets will be distributed through contact points including social work centres, tax administration offices, information points for foreigners and non-governmental organisations, with further information available on the Bank of Slovenia website.
