The Central Bank of Chile reported preliminary data showing that the Imacec fell 1.5% year over year in July 2026. The seasonally adjusted index declined 1.7% from June and 2.1% annually, with adverse weather conditions contributing to lower activity. The non-mining Imacec decreased 0.3% year over year and 0.5% from the previous month on a seasonally adjusted basis. Goods-producing industries contracted 3.2% annually, primarily because of weaker copper mining linked to lower ore grades, maintenance and weather disruptions. Manufacturing fell 3.1%, while services declined 0.7%, reflecting weakness in personal and business services, transportation, and accommodation and food services. Wholesale and retail trade grew 0.7% from a year earlier, supported by retail sales, but fell 1.4% from June on a seasonally adjusted basis.
