The European Central Bank, as administrator of the euro short-term rate (€STR), will expand the €STR reporting population used in the daily calculation by adding 24 banks from 2 July 2025 (reference to 1 July), taking the total from 45 to 69 institutions. The additional banks were incorporated into the Money Market Statistics Reporting (MMSR) population on 1 July 2024 but were kept out of the €STR calculation until the ECB could confirm that the newly reported data met sufficient quality standards. The larger sample is intended to strengthen the benchmark’s robustness and representativeness through higher transaction volumes across a broader set of reporting institutions, with the ECB expecting limited impact on the rate level based on an average testing-period difference of around -0.2 basis points since July 2024.
