Bank Indonesia reported that official reserve assets increased to USD 146.5 billion at the end of August 2026 from USD 145.3 billion at the end of July. The rise primarily reflected tax and services receipts and government foreign loan withdrawals, partly offset by government external debt repayments and rupiah stabilization measures amid persistent uncertainty in global financial markets. Reserves covered 5.4 months of imports, or 5.3 months of imports and government external debt servicing, exceeding the international adequacy standard of about three months of imports. Bank Indonesia assessed the reserves as adequate to support external resilience and macroeconomic and financial stability.
