The National Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan reported that Deputy Chairman Sirojiddin Ikromi took part in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors in Bishkek, where participants discussed stronger financial cooperation, digitalisation of public finance, monetary policy, financial stability and consultations on establishing an SCO Development Bank. He presented Tajikistan's current economic and financial conditions and the results of monetary policy measures aimed at maintaining moderate inflation, preserving financial stability and strengthening the banking system. The bank said it is continuing reforms in banking supervision, the introduction of modern macroprudential tools, payment infrastructure and digital financial services. Discussions also covered wider use of national currencies in settlements, interoperability of national payment systems, cross-border payments, financial technology, central bank digital currencies and cybersecurity. On the sidelines, Ikromi met the Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic to discuss bilateral cooperation on monetary policy, financial stability, payment infrastructure, digitalisation of financial services, compliance and exchange of experience.
