The Thailand Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) opened a training programme aimed at strengthening staff knowledge and operational capability in applying and enforcing insurance-related laws in criminal proceedings, administrative actions and administrative fine processes. Run from 15 May to 5 June 2025 in Bangkok, the programme targeted OIC personnel from both headquarters and regional offices and covered civil and commercial insurance law, civil and criminal litigation, issuing orders and using administrative enforcement measures, public procurement and administrative contracts, administrative fine procedures, and the tort liability of public officials. OIC linked the initiative to the rising compliance and supervisory challenges associated with large-scale events and increasing claims volumes, emphasising the need for staff to apply legal tools correctly and consistently to support fair claims handling while managing legal risk for the authority and its officials.
