The National Association of Insurance Commissioners announced that the South Dakota Division of Insurance has implemented State Based Systems (SBS), making South Dakota the 36th NAIC member to adopt the electronic platform for core insurance regulatory workflows. SBS supports end-to-end processing for functions such as licence applications and renewals, inquiries, complaints and enforcement actions, and is integrated with the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR) to streamline licensing and related uniformity initiatives. The platform also covers producer and company licensing, continuing education tracking, consumer services, fraud reporting, exam tracking and revenue management, and is already used by a wide range of other US states and territories, with Virginia licensing limited SBS services.
