The Payment Systems Regulator has concluded that the Current Account Switch Service (CASS) continues to meet the criteria for designation as an alternative switching scheme under the Payment Accounts Regulations 2015, following its annual assessment based on evidence submitted by Pay.UK, the scheme operator. HM Treasury appointed the PSR to designate and monitor alternative switching schemes, including ensuring they are in consumers’ interests, do not impose burdens beyond those set out in paragraphs 2 to 6 of Schedule 3 of the Payment Accounts Regulations, and complete switching within 12 working days. CASS was first designated in September 2016 and its designation was renewed in September 2017, September 2018, September 2019, September 2020, September 2021, September 2022, September 2023 and October 2025 (for 2024).
