The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that its chair, Almaz Baketaev, is continuing meetings in Washington on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Spring Meetings in his capacity as the Kyrgyz Republic’s governor at the IMF. Baketaev spoke at a session organised by the IMF’s Middle East and Central Asia Department with regional central bank leaders and IMF Deputy Managing Director Bo Li. He highlighted the impact of new external challenges on the Kyrgyz economy, described the economic policy measures being taken amid external turbulence, and said the current monetary policy stance is supporting macroeconomic stability. The programme of meetings in Washington is set to continue, with the central bank indicating it will keep advancing the Kyrgyz Republic’s interests in international financial fora.
