The Slovenia Insurance Supervision Agency published its analysis of first-quarter 2025 data for insurers headquartered in Slovenia, showing higher gross written premiums and lower gross claims paid compared with the first quarter of 2024. Gross premiums increased by EUR 54m to EUR 693m, while gross claims fell by EUR 36m to EUR 345m. Premium growth was driven mainly by a combination of higher policy volumes and higher prices in motor and home insurance. Motor hull policies increased to 492,106 from 456,248 and compulsory motor third-party liability policies to 689,013 from 672,669, with gross premiums rising by EUR 11m to EUR 155m and by almost EUR 8m to EUR 124m respectively. In life insurance, premiums for investment-risk products rose by just over EUR 16m to EUR 100m, even as the number of such policies declined to 115,304 from 131,379. The largest decline in claims was in health insurance, where payouts dropped to just under EUR 9m from EUR 42m, mainly due to delayed payments linked to discontinued supplementary health insurance; claims increased in compulsory motor insurance (EUR 66m vs EUR 59m) and in traditional life insurance (EUR 63m vs EUR 55m).
