The Saudi Arabia Insurance Authority announced the implementation of five clinical edits to the medical coding system on the NPHIES platform, which digitally links insurers with health care providers. The edits are intended to improve diagnostic coding accuracy and accelerate medical approvals in line with the Australian Coding Standard. The system will instantly validate diagnostic data and block inaccurate transmissions, including codes not permitted for billing. Checks cover whether diagnosis codes were active on the service date, match the patient’s gender and age, and are permitted as the principal diagnosis under the International Classification of Diseases.
