The Panama Superintendency of Banks (SBP) participated in Panama Week South Africa 2025, an initiative organised by the Embassy of Panama in South Africa, to promote the international profile of Panama’s banking centre and engage with South African stakeholders. From 1 to 4 December, SBP’s Director of International Affairs and Projects, Kathy de Guardia, presented on the value of Panama’s International Banking Center and joined the Banking Forum panel to share Panama’s regulatory experience with South African financial sector experts, including Olano Makhubela, Director of Market Conduct Integrity at the South African Reserve Bank. SBP described the exchange as strengthening Panama’s technical presence and creating space for future collaboration, alongside a broader country mission attended by senior Panamanian government and business representatives.
