The National Bank of Moldova said Governor Anca Dragu held a bilateral meeting with World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Antonella Bassani during the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Constituency Meeting in Varna, Bulgaria. The talks focused on closer cooperation between the central bank and the World Bank, the European integration of Moldova's financial system, and recent macroeconomic developments in Chisinau. They also covered the broader strategic partnership between Moldova and the World Bank, with emphasis on structural reforms in the financial sector and modernization of economic infrastructure. Officials reviewed joint projects on the digitalization of financial services, financial inclusion, sustainable finance and the strengthening of the macroprudential regulatory framework. Dragu also discussed recent macroeconomic developments and monetary policy measures aimed at maintaining price stability, while underscoring continued monitoring of inflation risks. The meeting also addressed the European Union-backed Economic Growth Plan for Moldova, where World Bank expertise and technical assistance were presented as important for effective fund management and for limiting short-term macrofinancial risks.
