The Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA) announced the passing of Mr. Jean-Louis Duplat, Honorary Chairman of the Banking and Finance Commission (CBF), who died on 9 January 2026 at the age of 88. Duplat chaired the Banking Commission from 1989 to 2001, during which it was transformed into the Banking and Finance Commission (CBF), which subsequently became the CBFA and then the FSMA. The FSMA noted his earlier legal and judicial career in Brussels, as well as later corporate board roles, a ten-year presidency of Child Focus, and academic positions at the Faculties of Notre-Dame de la Paix in Namur and the Catholic University of Louvain (UCLouvain).
