The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA) participated in Mediation Week in Dar es Salaam from 13 to 17 April 2026, focusing on public education on alternative dispute resolution, particularly in the insurance sector, and how insurance complaints can be addressed outside the courts. Through its engagement, TIRA provided guidance on insurance complaint-handling procedures, customers’ rights and obligations, and the use of mediation as an avenue for resolving disputes. It also took part in mediation sessions bringing together insurance service users with compensation complaints and insurance companies, with the sessions described as delivering both dispute resolution and insurance education. The week was coordinated by the Mediation Centre of the High Court of Tanzania and supported by the Insurance Disputes Ombudsman Office (TIO) and insurers including Heritage, CRDB and Sanlam Allianz.
