The Central Bank of the UAE’s Governor, Khaled Mohamed Balama, participated in the 85th meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council Central Bank Governors Committee in Kuwait, where governors reviewed recent monetary and financial developments across GCC member states and discussed ways to strengthen joint cooperation in monetary policy, financial systems and banking services. The meeting brought together the governors of GCC central banks and senior officials from the GCC General Secretariat. The UAE delegation included the CBUAE’s Assistant Governor for Monetary Policy and Financial Stability, Ebrahim Obaid Alzaabi, alongside senior officials. Discussions covered payment systems, supervision, financial technology, exchanging cybersecurity expertise and information within the banking sector, initiatives to enhance international cooperation, and the GCC’s efforts to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism.
