The French Financial Markets Authority has published a study updating its analysis of trading executed at the market close on French equities. The report focuses on the sustained rise in the share of equity trading taking place at the close and broadens the review from Euronext Paris to all trading venues in order to produce a consolidated view of end-of-day volumes. The update builds on the authority's 2019 note, which found that closing auction volumes on Euronext Paris accounted for 41% of CAC 40 trading in June 2019. The new analysis examines the evolution and characteristics of closing trades and the distribution of traded amounts across venues, using transaction data received by the authority to reconstruct consolidated volumes executed at the close.
