The National Bank of Moldova’s Governor, Anca Dragu, spoke at the AI & Big Data Conference – Humans. Powered by AI in Moldova, outlining how central banks should steer the shift toward data- and algorithm-driven economies with a focus on responsibility, transparency and citizen safety, and with the use of artificial intelligence guided by ethical and inclusive principles. Dragu highlighted the National Bank of Moldova’s adoption of AI-based technologies in areas including risk supervision, document processing and institutional interaction, and noted ongoing work to develop advanced tools for analysing financial reporting, identifying emerging risks and automating institutional processes. She also pointed to priorities such as expanding digital payments and connecting to the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), promoting financial education across age and income groups, and pursuing responsible regulation of emerging technologies in cooperation with European institutions.
