The Reserve Bank of New Zealand has appointed Deputy Governor Christian Hawkesby as Governor for a six-month term from 8 April, after he served as acting Governor from 5 March, while the Bank recruits a Governor to serve a five-year term. The interim appointment can be extended by the Minister of Finance for up to three additional months. During the recruitment process, the Monetary Policy Committee will comprise three internal Reserve Bank of New Zealand staff and three external members, with the MPC Chair holding a casting vote.
