The Monetary Authority of Singapore hosted the 31st Executives’ Meeting of East Asia-Pacific Central Banks Governors’ Meeting in Singapore. The meeting focused on macroeconomic developments across EMEAP economies, elevated uncertainty in the global economy, and the impact and potential risks of artificial intelligence on regional economies and financial systems. Governors reaffirmed the need for central banks to remain vigilant and agile. Discussions examined how AI could interact with economic structures and affect financial stability, including possible risks linked to large AI investments. Governors also considered how AI could be used to augment central bank work, reviewed regional developments in AI and digitalisation, and discussed the macro-financial outlook in the context of geopolitical tensions. They also resolved to deepen the exchange of views and mutual understanding on digital fraud and scams affecting the financial sector. The governors endorsed the chairmanships for the Monetary and Financial Stability Committee and Working Groups for 2026–2028. Bank Indonesia will chair and host the 32nd EMEAP Governors’ Meeting in 2027.
