Argentina’s Superintendency of Insurance has amended the mandatory standard contract terms for motor vehicle and trailer insurance under the General Regulation on Insurance Activity, incorporating updated rules from the National Directorate of National Registries of Motor Vehicle Property and Pledge Credits to streamline claims settlement. The changes update and clarify the documents policyholders must submit for total loss events. For total loss due to damage or fire, the focus is on proving deregistration of the vehicle, requiring the relevant form, the deregistration certificate and the deregistration and dismantling certificate in physical or digital format, and delivery of keys if the insured still has them. For total theft or robbery, the required set covers proof of the incident and the vehicle’s registry status, including the police report, evidence of theft registration with the Registry, the ownership status report, and proof of title, while retaining requirements for no-debt certificates and an assignment of rights in favor of the insurer, as well as key delivery if available.
