Securities Commission Malaysia announced it will host a Malaysia Co-Investment Fund (MyCIF) roadshow in Penang on 18 February 2025 to raise awareness among micro, small and medium enterprises in Kedah, Penang, Perlis and northern Perak of MyCIF and of equity crowdfunding and peer-to-peer financing as alternative funding channels. Organised with the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority, the one-day event at The Light Hotel Penang in Seberang Jaya will include an overview of equity crowdfunding and peer-to-peer financing, networking with SC-registered platform operators, and breakout sessions and exhibitors focused on fundraising needs. MyCIF, established under Federal Budget 2019 by the Ministry of Finance and administered by the SC, operates a public-private co-investment model alongside equity crowdfunding and peer-to-peer platforms, using a 1:4 co-investment ratio under its General Scheme and 1:2 under its Food Security Scheme and Environmental and Social Impact Scheme; the SC cited latest figures showing MyCIF has co-invested more than RM1 billion in over 9,000 MSMEs from seed funding of RM260 million.
