The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA), through its Western Zone, participated in a capacity-building session for leaders and health sector stakeholders in Shinyanga Region to explain the Authority’s role in the Universal Health Insurance (UHI) scheme, for which TIRA has a key supervisory mandate. The 17 December 2025 session brought together the Regional Commissioner, the Regional Administrative Secretary, Regional and District Medical Officers, health service providers from Shinyanga Urban, and other UHI Fund stakeholders. During the event, TIRA also presented an award recognising the Regional Administrative Secretary, CP Salum Rashid Hamduni, for facilitating the registration of many health facilities in the region; the award was handed over by Western Zone Manager Awanje Matenda on behalf of the Insurance Commissioner.
