It reminded the public that banks do not send SMS or emails with embedded hyperlinks directing customers to their websites to carry out transactions, and do not ask for sensitive information such as login passwords or One-Time Passwords by phone, email or SMS. Anyone who disclosed personal information or carried out financial transactions through or in response to the scams should contact the relevant bank using the details in the corresponding press release and report the matter to the Hong Kong Police Force's Crime Wing Information Centre.
